Great post about Druid changes by Keeva

My Take?

What in Elune's name are they thinking?!

Here is the Official Blue post on the WoW forums: Cataclysm Class Preview: Druid

So some things that are exciting, somethings are disappointing, and some....just down right wrong!

So lets make this a bit happy and go over some minor exciting things:

Restoration druids will have a new talent called Efflorescence, which causes a bed of healing flora to sprout beneath targets that are critically healed by Regrowth.

That seems pretty cool. But the only downside, is that I will only really see it while in 5 mans, and a few times on the tank.

HoT Scale Healing: HoTs will do increased healing on more wounded targets. The mechanic is similar to that of the Restoration shaman, but with HoTs instead of direct heals. In Cataclysm, we anticipate druids using a greater variety of their spells so there is a distinction between healing and HoT healing.

For some reason, I DON'T anticipate us using more Nourishes or Regrowths (Unless our haste has hit a point where the regrowths are half a second cast) And, I would say, Unless they consider regrowth a heal, rather than a Hot heal, Then this will benefit us the best.

Here are some Things that I feel are a Bit disappointing:

Unlike the other healers, Restoration druids will not be receiving any new spells. They have plenty to work with already, and our challenge instead is to make sure all of them have a well-defined niche. A druid should be able to tank-heal with stacks of Lifebloom, spot-heal a group with Nourish and Regrowth, and top off lightly wounded targets with Rejuvenation.

Wait....woah hold on a minute....are you telling me that you are giving, feral & Balance new toys and we don't get a cool new spell? I remember when Wild Growth was the new fun toy...but here, we get nothing?? How about Giving us something like Hymn of hope, giving all party members mana, Or "Flower Power: When Cast up to 5 friendly party or raid members will be effected with Flower Power, increasing their Healing Received by 10% for 20 seconds. 5 Min Cooldown"
Or SOMETHING fun.

But we get squat, Nothing, just a few little talent fun but other than that. THANKS ALOT BLIZZARD!

Druids will lose Abolish Poison with the dispel mechanics change, but Restoration druids will gain Dispel Magic (on friendly targets) as a talent. All druids can still remove poisons with Cure Poison and remove curses with Remove Curse.

OK Dispel Magic....thats fine, But Getting rid of Abolish Poison?? Why can't you get rid of Cure poison. I would really like my poison dispel to be ticking for 12 seconds, just incase of a hefty poisonous fight (Think: PVP Rogues) Rather than having to dispel it every-time its cast on my target! Come on blizzard.... are you thinking at all?

And here are some down right Face-palming moves on blizzard's part that i would agree that 95% of the druid community agrees with me.

Tree of Life is changing from a passive talent to a cooldown-based talent, similar to Metamorphosis. Mechanically, it feels unfair for a druid to have to give up so much offense and utility in order to be just as good at healing as the other classes who are not asked to make that trade. We are exploring the exact benefit the druid gets from Tree of Life. It could strictly be better healing, or it could be that each heal behaves slightly different. You also will not be able to be banished in Tree of Life form (this will probably be true of Metamorphosis as well). Additionally, we would like to update the Tree of Life model so that it feels more exciting when you do decide to go into that form. Our feeling is that druids rarely actually get to show off their armor, so it would be nice to have at least one spec that looked like a night elf or tauren (and soon troll or worgen) for most of the time.

WHY???? Why are we submitted to having to have our beloved tree on a CD? There are times, when There is no mage to polymorph, so I would cyclone, Or there are no hunters to trap, So i would use entangling roots.....So now i can no longer help the raid in any way, and i am now just a healer. Not just any healer....A healer that does nothing but heal.

What stops a Priest on throwing out a mind sear, a shadow word pain or a devouring plague on a target, when the raid is not taking much damage? What stops the shaman from using wind shear or Frostshock, In between those chain heals? What stops a paladin from throwing down a hammer once or twice? Nothing is going to stop them, They are going to heal and DPS the same as they always do....Where now, we just sit in the back waving our branches and build up a super overheal list. We can choose to do some wraths in normal form, But according to Metamorphosis, It's a 3 min cooldown. So there's absolutely no way, am i going to have my Tree of Life and have some raid assistance any more.

Thanks Blizzard.....We really appreciate it....
